We need you!
In the last 10 years, thousands of men have taken a stand against gender based violence and have raised money for local crisis services and shelters by participating in a “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event. Stand with them and join our local walk on September 15th, 2011 during Pittsfield’s Third Thursday.
This walk is a fundraiser to benefit the Elizabeth Freeman Center. We need 300 men to get their friends and families to sponsor them to register to walk from the Popcorn Wagon at Park Square to Maplewood Avenue and back wearing women’s shoes that we will provide (or wear your own shoes or flip flops decorated in a feminine way). It’s just one mile. Family and friends are encouraged to walk with these brave men, cheering them on and soliciting donations along the walk route. Every registered walker will receive an official “walk” t-shirt.
In 2010, the Elizabeth Freeman Center served over 5,500 individuals: 1,400 in North County, 1,720 in South County, and 2,465 in Central Berkshire. If every walker brings just one friend to the walk, we will have an amazing show of commitment to end domestic violence and sexual assault.
Please pass on to your friends and the friends of your friends and
encourage them to walk! Please print it and post it wherever you can. And please
sign up to walk yourself
